Nice glad to hear it. Are you outsourcing the rescaling etc.?
aws lambda fn that listens on a couple s3 buckets where photos get uploaded. pillow to do the actual resizing.

Lol sounds simple but also like a lot of David dev work. I was imagining something like this or a similar service (I think there are a bunch)
